| always late to post, but it's okay. well, everyone is always talking about how great the after gobbleday turkey sandwiches are.. and i have to agree, left over turkey can be just as good and juicy as freshly baked turkey. my yearly tradition for the past inn 12-15 years, has been me buying a loaf of white bread (has to be wonder bread brand) and a jar of hellmann's mayo. so my system would be 2 slices of bread, a MORE than generous slather of mayo on each slice of bread a couple of slices of turkey (dark, white and skin - heated up in a microwave with a wet paper towel of course, to keep the meat juicy), smush them together and viola turkey sandwich.. i have to say its damn good.. well this year was no different, the morning after black friday i pounded down 2 of those sandwiches and then took a nice nap before returning back to best buy to pick up the voucher goods. sunday night my parents went out, so i didn't need to worry about cooking for them so i searched around looking for other means of food before resorting to a 3rd days of eating left over thanksgiving food, when i found a loaf of left over garlic bread that i didn't serve on gobbleday dinner (the garlic bread i baked from scratch so its extra soft - not like french bread.. and cause i'm fat, i don't skimp on the butter and freshly minced garlic.). so here was the concoction than i created that night. left over garlic bread, 1 layers of white meat, 1 layer of dark meat, thin layer of mayo (was not necessary..but still had to put it on), 3 slices of american cheese to top it off. tossed it in the conventional oven at 325 degrees till the cheese melted, and this is what i got:
when i was done i could hardly breath.. it was soo heavy but yet it was a delicious. i don't know what to name this masterpiece. any ideas? |
